About Us
Our History
It was in the 1950′s that Oliver Etherington, a renowned hatchery manager, started selling chicken from his home in Catforth ‘The Laurels’. His chicken produce soon became known as ‘Laurels chicken’ and in 1956, due to increasing demand, Oliver moved to Bankfield (still the home of DPS today), where he had more land to rear his chickens.
Direct Poultry Supply (Inskip) LTD
It was in 1972 that the name DPS; ‘Direct Poultry Supply (Inskip) Ltd’ was formally registered. Demand continued to grow and Oliver started to source more chicken from local farmers, selling on to market traders and catering butchers.
Future Growth
In 1985 DPS purchased a further 10 acres next to ‘Bankfield’ and in 1987 developed a purpose built factory on the land. Over the years the site has had many developments and achieved the highest standards in food safety. Furthermore, we now have depots across the UK.
The DPS Guarantee
In 2015 we introduced our DPS Guarantee. The DPS Guarantee is simple, we believe in only quality, from sourcing to packaging and only excellence in our service to our customers.
Our guarantee begins with the produce we source, because without a quality product to begin with, we’re not going to get the best possible end result to you! That’s why we scrutinise every aspect of our product. We want to know everything about it; how it lived, where it comes from, what kind of life it’s had! Our quality control allows no room for error.
The DPS Factory Shop
In 2016 we launched our new Factory Shop, we sell a selection of fresh, quality poultry and meat products at wholesale prices to trade customers and members of the public.
We offer a range of products at wholesale prices from our on-site Factory Shop. The shop is open to members of the public and businesses in the catering or restaurant trade. So if you’re a local restauranteur, or simply looking for some inspiration for your next dinner party, why not come on in and see what we have to offer.
